WORKPLACE DELEGATES RIGHTS

The Fair Work Act has recently introduced new rights and protections for workplace delegates when carrying out their role and additionally the Fair Work Commission has inserted delegates’ rights provisions into each modern award.
A workplace delegate as defined in section 350C of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) (FW Act) is a person appointed or elected, in accordance with the rules of an employee organisation, to be a delegate or representative for members of the organisation who work in a particular enterprise.

REDUNDANCIES

Australia has recently seen an increase in redundancies across various sectors due to organisational restructuring, downsizing, closures, relocations, or technological advancements. Understanding redundancy rights, processes, and entitlements is crucial for compliance and favorable outcomes for both employers and employees.

Recent updates to workplace delegate rights and redundancy policies have been highlighted by CCIWA Employee Relations Adviser Natasha Marsala in the latest CCIWA Regional Newsletter.

These changes impact how workplace delegates operate and outline redundancy procedures.
