Overview of Activities & Services provided:
St John Onslow is a charitable, not-for-profit first aid and ambulance service that exists for the benefit of the people and visitors to Onslow and its surrounding areas.
St John Onslow receives no government funding and relies solely on the income generated by its own service delivery and grants to sustain its service to the community.
Our dedicated and close-knit team of 13 predominantly volunteer personnel covers a geographical area of 38000km2, spanning from Yannarie to the south, Fortescue River Roadhouse to the north, and Wyloo to the east.
Along with the Community Paramedic, our operational volunteers are responsible for the following:
· Providing emergency medical assistance 24/7;
· Hospital-airport patient transfers in collaboration with the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS);
· Inter-hospital patient transfers (between Onslow, Karratha and Port Hedland hospitals);
· Attendance at public events to provide first aid services;
· Attendance at regular training sessions to maintain skills; and
· Completion of detailed, accurate records for ambulance calls.
We aim to build a strong, supportive and resilient community, from newborns to older people, visitors and residents, by relieving sickness, distress, suffering and danger and providing education and support.
St John Onslow is overseen by a Committee, which consists of a Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer, Committee Members and the Community Paramedic.
